The Fez thing with That 70s Show was INSANE.

I do like some wrong!ships for naughty reasons mostly:

Brenda/Kelly (SORRY! But it appealed to my slut streak)
    Wesley and Lilah

And ophy you are operating under the assumption I could forgive Angel as Angelus and I COULD NOT. So I liked Buffy/Angel and my heart broken for Buffy in S2. And I never reallly forgave him.

    Loved Cordy/Xander, too.
Itís just really honestly so tiring and emotionally draining to have to get upset over reality constantly.

Well, I think that most people who say that Angel is better for Buffy than Spike tend to forget that Spike was, in general, a much nicer unsouled dude than Angel was when he was an unsouled dude.

I ship Bangel above all regardless, because the first Whedonverse ep I ever saw was I Will Remember You, and that's what made me go get caught up on BTVS and ATS. You never forget your first!

That was my first Whedonverse episode, too! I watched it randomly - I think maybe I'd decided to give Angel a try because of Glenn Quinn? I loved it, but not enough to get me watching either show until much later. I did always ship Bangel, but then I hate Spike. Well, I hate Season 6+ Spike. Angel at least stopped being a dick when he got his soul. Spike was virtually the same character with and without it.

Brenda/Kelly (SORRY! But it appealed to my slut streak)
Hee! I think I missed those episodes!

I'm like ophy in that I always get sucked in by bantering and play fighting. P/Jo, LoVe, some early Spuffy before they turned him totally emo over Buffy, and early Chair. I'm shallow too, so looks do play a role in my ships. If I'm not into one of the pair, I usually have trouble getting into the couple. I think I could have shipped Rory/Jess if I did not find Milo kinda douchey and I may have been too hard on his character as a result. But then maybe not 'cause Jess sucked so whatever. The same thing might have happened with Felicity/Noel. I can recognize that he was usually nicer to her than Ben and that he was more stable, but I just thought Keri and Speedy were cuter together and had way better chemistry. My minor ships include Rory/Logan, Seth/Summer, Tim/Lyla, Julie/Matt until she turned into a hosebeast and even then I just wanted her to grow up and be ready for his awesomeness so that they could get back together which did eventually happen, and Serena/Nate.

I don't have very many literary ships, but my fave is probably Jessica Darling and Marcus Flutie with the supah hawt ginger dreads. I just wanted those two to get their shit together so bad so they could live happily ever after. Penny and Jeremy from the Rather series are a close second, but they don't have any angst so it's a low risk ship that I'm not super invested in. I guess I ship Katniss with Gale but it feels like it's by default because of the Hutch which isn't fair to either the characters or Legohead, but see above comment regarding shallowness. Oh and R/H, obvs.

Oh, I totally forgot I shipped Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano! I didn't even know what fanfic was and had been on the Internet like twice, but I neeeeeeded to see them make out. I know Krakow was the way nicer guy, but Leto was basically the prettiest thing I'd ever seen at that point in my life and AC's angst over him was so REAL. You probs could have convinced me was a real angel that came down from heaven on a unicorn.

Weirdly, I still remember liking Mike Seaver with that waitress Julie who got written off the show because Kirk Cameron disapproved of her porny past which wasn't even all that porny. I liked her way better than the girlfriend who eventually became his wife. And Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert from A Different World! I loved them.

I love banter, but only if I like the characters. Pacey and Andie's banter was annoying
I always thought I was ship slut because most any bantering duo had me at "I hate you." But Andie was so forced and lame she still breaks my brain. Even in my new sometimes-crack-ships that constantly give each other shit (Peralta/Santiago, Lemon/Wade), there's an ease, a mutual respect, and a history so the MFEO pining and growing up for each other later on makes sense.

OMB Dwayne and Whitley! Hah! Love so much.

I don't know what draws me in a ship and what makes it an OTP rather than just an ordinary ship. It's not just chemistry and looks because I do have literary OTPs like Katniss/Peeta. Pining/longing and bunter is definitely a draw for me.

Funny you mention SatC. I thought the best match for Carrie was her writer boyfriend in early season 6. Burger. Until they ruined him by making him a jeaous douche. I loved their bunter.

Shipping can spoil something for me if the rest of the show/book/movie/whatever is bad. Harry/Ginny hasn't ruined Harry Potter for me, thank God, and Homeland just literaly killed half of my ship and I'll continue watching. Dawson's would have been forever ruined if it had ended D/Jo, however, because it wasn't that good. I feel for the Djers sometimes because they invested so much of their time in a mediocre show and they lost.

Edited to agree with Is, re: DJers. Were you in the fandom? Because they were insufferable. They were so damned SMUG. And ENTITLED. The fact that they lost was amazing precisely because they were so sure they would win! They were the Cobra Kai of the DC fandom. And we were Daniel, performing that perfect crane kick at the end.

So much THIS. I loved Mike/Julie and I have no idea why. I also loved Carol/Sandy(Chandler). How many times was he on that show? Twice, maybe? Because I cried and cried when he croaked like he was a main character. Stupid PSA episode.

I also loved Alex/Ellen on Family Ties. Boo Courtney Cox. Boo.

Edited again because I realized it was Is's "No Mercy" gif that made me think of the Karate Kid analogy, and that was the catchphrase of the Cobra Kai leader guy, which really mixes up my meaning, but whatever. I just wanted to use that gif. The bottom line is that DJers can still suck it.

I have no clue what the common themes are for my OTPs; I just know I love them all.

                          Eowyn/Faramir
                          Ron Weasley/Luna Lovegood (crack ship)
Wes/Lilah - oh my shipper heart broke with this one
Aeryn Sun/John Chricton (love Farscape and all those peeps. <3 <3 <3)
Bessie/Doug (blame Laura Smith for this crack ship)
Delenn/Neroon and Anna/Sheridan (Babylon 5, and regardless of the fact that I adore Delenn/Sheridan)
                          Brenda/Dylan ( for that Kelly/Dylan crap)
Olivia/Peter (I know, I know, this is grounds for being removed from the board. But they won me over with it, and I am sticking with that).
SpyMommy/SpyDaddy from Alias. Old Spies > Young Spies
McMurphy/KC - I'm rewatching China Beach and it has made me all shippery about these two again
Old Spock/Old Uhura - in the original ST, these two had so much chemistry
Casey/Ellie - from Chuck. Sort of a crack ship, but you can make the case that he was always kinda in love with her
DK/The J - they are so pretty and make me happy

I ship Peter/Olivia! In the sense that Peter should get what he wants and he lurved her so much, so yeah. Altlivia/Peter were more fun/wrong/bad/fun, but I was happy when Peter was happy.

I forgot to add that since I started reading them, I hardore ship almost every one of Austen's couples. Lizzie/Darcy, Emma/Knightley, Anne/Wentworth and almost all the others.

I refuse to re-read Little Women due to Jo/Laurie. This book is why fanfiction was invented.
