  • Brides.com has weighed in on the possible engagement.

Diane Kruger, one of our favorite style stars, may be ready to tie the knot with longtime boyfriend Joshua Jackson! The star of FX's The Bridge was spotted leaving a private dinner party for Antonio Berardi on Tuesday wearing a conspicuous sparkler on her left ring finger (see a photo of it here!), leaving many to speculate that Jackson popped the question.

Neither member of the pair, who have been together since 2006, has commented on the rumors, seemingly letting the statement ring speak for itself.

The ring is from the Bulgari Serpenti collection. A rep for the brand told E! News it is 18-karat pink gold with 2.51-carat diamonds and rubellite. For a woman with such confident, fashion-forward style, it certainly seems like the perfect engagement ring.

We can't help but let a little doubt seep into our excitement about the comely couple's betrothal. As utterly divine Kruger would look as a bride (and as handsome as Dawson's Creek alum Jackson can look in a tux), they've made no secret of their views on marriage in the past.

In 2012, Jackson told E! News that marriage is "important for the people that it's important for, but neither one of us are particularly religious so I don't think that there's any particular push." His statement came on the heels of another bout of engagement fever: That May, he bought Kruger a $45,000 necklace at a charity auction in Monaco was allegedly overheard saying it was an engagement present for his lady love.

Kruger, who was married to French actor Guillaume Canet from 2001 to 2006, shared her own thoughts on getting married with Glamour the year before. "Without being pessimistic, I learned that I don't believe in marriage," she said, reflecting on her first union.

With those sentiments on public record, why would anyone assume her new jewelry is anything more than an accessory? There are a few reasons, all of which stem from their long courtship.

For starters, their relationship has turned into a partnership. Both have discussed how Kruger, a former model, has shaped her Fringe star boyfriend into something of a fashion plate himself. They also publicly support each other for every premiere and event. It sounds trite, but showing up and letting the other shine leads to deep respect.

They also have known each other long enough to laugh at their rocky start. "Our first date was a miserable one," Jackson said last year. "I took her to an Italian restaurant, and there was some flower that was blooming. She was allergic to it so she sniffled and sneezed the entire time. And when I get nervous, you might have noticed I talk a lot. So I just chewed her ear off for an hour and a half. It was amazing. I'm surprised she ever called back." It can take some couples a long time to move past the honeymoon stage and accept each others' differences, and it seems as though these two have gotten there.

Finally, Kruger's unsuccessful first marriage led her to a conclusion many reach after a similar situation: Take it out of the equation and see what happens. This couple's obvious affection—have you seen how he looks at her on the red carpet?—stems from the time they've taken to grow with each other, and it shows. Don't believe us? Listen to Kruger herself.

"I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart," Kruger also said in her Glamour interview. "There's no paper that will make you stay. A guy friend of mine said, and it made a lot of sense, that people should get married at the end of the road, not the beginning."

Seven years is a long-term commitment by any standard, making an engagement now seem more likely than it would have a year ago. Jackson has also expressed some measured optimism about marriage. "Never say never," he said last year in response to an engagement question.

We love their open-minded attitude toward love! Clearly, they've moved closer to the idea of marriage together, which makes us think that this ring might be the real thing! Here's hoping—the Chanel model will probably wear a show-stopping wedding dress.
For me, it would seem weird at this point if they did get engaged and married. It would make me think they were trying to fix something.

    • Agreed. I've just resigned to the fact that we're never gonna see DK in bridal. I'm okay.

          • I hope they are engaged (because it would mean they are trying to fix something).
It’s just really honestly so tiring and emotionally draining to have to get upset over reality constantly.

              • Also, I realize Pacey has cash! He was part of a majah franchise as a little kid and has had two TV shows that went for five-ish years each. But he also has a bunch of freeloading family members (tru enuf). Dropping $25-50k on pieces of jewelry seems foolish to me! Make sure you got that lifetime nest egg, bb. <--hopelessly middle class.

Also, eh, if he averages about a mil a year, it'd be about the same as someone making a hundred grand who bought a $2500 something for their girlfriend. That seems ok.

                  • I hope they're not engaged because then she would wear that ugly ring for the rest of her life, ostensibly.

I am not even with Is's theory.

                    • It's annual 'are they engaged?' speculation time. It's getting to be like the boy who cried wolf.

The ring is ugly but I guess if he bought it for her, and paid all that money for it, she has to wear it. If she chose it herself - why?

He looked really good in that sweater.

                      • DK was out in her favorite pink jeans and she's still sporting the ring of speculation. I agree with everyone that the new haircut makes her look younger. Her hair's a lot bouncier and thicker.

It looks like she'll be at Sundance for her new movie and then will start filming another one about Everest, according to an interview she did a little while ago. I think I read somewhere that it's based on Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. I think I started reading that book like 10 years ago and then put it down and promptly forgot about it so I probs have it here somewhere if it managed to make the move into the house with me. IMDB doesn't have her listed under either of the 2 Everest projects slated for this year, but one is with Cumberbatch and Doug Liman and the other has Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin.

And for ophy, Laa, and any other peeps who long to see DK in bridal, The Knot feels you and wants to offer her some suggestions. Uncle Karl laughs at those because if DK does ever marry, he'll obvs be making her dress and it will obvs be made out of unicorn hair and glass. Textiles are for the simple.

                        • I feel like hers wouldn't look like any of those - that it would be super short and flared-skirt-ish.

Or she'd go pink or gold, just to be that way.

                          • Gold makes me think of Serena, so . I love the bob more and more each day, and I yearn to pair my pink jeans with hot pink sandals, but you know what I just realized? LA robs us of DK in cute fall/winter. I was expecting another little wool beret.

                            • It does and she has cute Fall style, too!

The pink jeans/pink flats is a little Housewives of Orange County for me, but I'm not sure I'd be able to resist pairing them together either if both items were in my closet. But then I'd spend the whole day like, "Is this too much? Is it tacky? It's kinda tacky, right? But cute? Damnit."

                              • I finally found this old pic from an InStyle issue. It's them at a house party for Marni's designer and they look super young and pretty and the way she's looking at him is totes adorbs.
