    • I have never wanted to see a movie so badly IN MY LIFE.

OBVS. Although my Met Ball joy is somewhat diminished now that my faves aren't ever gonna grace that carpet again, it's still the best celeb event every year. And I am always all in on every heist movie.

        • watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in the afternoon. I was riveted. Best movie I've seen all year probably.

I also watched something called Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru which had appearances by the Houghs and Maria Menounos in it. I mean I knew they were all brainless but pay 4000$ per ticket for a fake epiphany brainless... yikes. This was prompted by Oh No Ross and Carrie podcast going to Real Estate Wealth Expo.

          • We watched I, Tonya and Ladybird this week and man, I really wanted to love Ladybird, but it was just ok? The performances were awesome and deserving of award recognition, but it kinda felt like nothing was really happening. To be fair, nothing much happened in Boyhood either and I loved it, but that movie was basically a walk through Issie's real life so I connected with its characters and settings more deeply. I, Tonya was much more entertaining. Margot Robbie and Allison Janney are fantastic in it. The movie does a great job of making you feel for Tonya while also showing you how she never takes responsibility for her actions. We have The Post on our list and I'd like to see Phantom Thread even though Mr. Issie thinks it'll be boring. He's pretty much in movie limbo until we go see Black Panther which is how I feel about Lady Oceans or whatever the actual title is.

            • We went to see Blockers this weekend and it's super funny. I don't remember the last time I laughed so much throughout a movie. Maybe Bridesmaids? And John Cena is making a nice little career for himself a la The Rock. It would've been really easy for him to get lost in the mix with Barinholtz and Mann, but he has great comedic timing. Actually his pairing with his daughter was my favorite of the 3 parent/kid sets. Also, when did Leslie Mann officially become the naggy needer in everything? Even in those lotion commercials she does, she's like, "BE MY FRIEND!"

              • Infinity Wars was a loud, fun, messy party. It didn't care if you hadn't watched the other movies and didn't know exactly what was going on. That's on you and they were not gonna slow down to explain anything to slackers. But everybody meeting everybody made for some really funny dialogue. I was surprised that they didn't have any interaction between Cap and Iron Man since that fight was the main thing they had to resolve from Civil War. I guess we'll check in with those dudes next year when the new one comes out? I legit thought they were gonna kill Cap off in this one so I was doubly surprised to see him make it to the end.

                Favorite things:
                Quill's inferiority complex over Thor
Hulk being too scared of Thanos to cooperate by coming out when they needed him and Banner yelling at him the entire movie
Natasha/Okoye coming to kick ass in order to defend Scarlet Witch; I need a movie with these 3 as leads, please

Also, this was such a crossover extravaganza that when Dinklage showed up playing a giant dwarf, I was basically like, "Oh we're doing Marvel/GOT on top of everything else? Cool, cool."

                • I... don't know what to think about Infinity War. It was funnier thaI expected (always a plus) and every one had a moment to shine! It really makes you want to see the next one, at least in my case.

                  • We went to see I Feel Pretty yesterday and it was cute, although not as funny as I was expecting. It was a little more earnest in its messaging about body positivity and how we should love ourselves so that was nice. I should have known it would be that way based on Oprah's OTP endorsement. MDubs is unexpectedly hilarious in it. She uses this voice that I can not get over and will probs haunt my dreams a little, but it was very effective. Overall, I laughed a lot more during Trainwreck, but this is one of those movies that I'll stop and watch on cable 5 years from now and still enjoy.

                    • I liked I Feel Pretty a lot more than I was expecting to! I laughed a lot. (I expected it to be kinda terrible tbh).

                      INFINITY WAR WTF.

At the 60% mark, I was like: This movie is so much better than it deserves to be, given what an overstuffed mess it simply has to be.

And then... I have mixed fee-fees. I thought the first half had some huge emotional payoffs I wasn't expecting. It's maybe the best GotG movie so far? Heh. But since we know some of the movies lined up for after the NEXT IW? It feels like a cheat. Like I was borderline Annie Wilkes at the end. SHE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCKADOODEE CAR!

                      • Well it wouldn't have that ending if it couldn't be reversed. I'm okay with this. It'd be devastating otherwise. I'm more about how they'll do it instead of what they'll do. Also some deaths will probably happen in IW4. I'm actually more afraid about those lived in this movie now.

                        • Saaame. And yeah, I teared up at some spots, but my pregnant ass should’ve been weeping, y’know? Too bad Marvel released their schedule for the next decade.

                          • I don't remember tearing up, I was just left deflated and confused by the end because I hadn't kept up with the Marvel movie release schedule and was like, "Wait, whuh?" But yeah, with the time infinity stone, nothing that happened in the first movie has to stand so it does feel a little pointless.

Also, one of the biggest "deaths" was Gamora and I just can't make myself care about her or her relationship with Starlord so when she got thrown off the cliff, I basically felt nothing. AND, I didn't find it believable that Thanos loved her more than he loved power and universal domination so his little crying bit did not ring true for me.

                            • See, I like Gamora, but this was the realest her relationship with Quill has been, so that’s either a pretty shitty, too-abrupt start-and-finish for them or it guarantees that she eventually gets unkilled. I mean, Loki got a complete arc and Hiddleston’s been around for seven years, so his death makes story-telling and IRL sense to me. Gamora’s been in just two ensemble films and the Marvelverse for only four years, so I can’t believe she’s just done. Even though Zoe Saldana’s really trying to sell “See you in Avatar, everybody!”

                              • Yeah, I don't really believe Gamora is dead but Vision might be. Loki and Heimdal for sure and whoever dies in the next movie.
