OMG Plec, wait till after S6.

I didn't love "The Killer" - I think ITV2 did something with the editing - or lots of scenes were cut and you all just ignored the very choppy choppiness of the ep.

I did not get Bonnie/Prof. I don't even know why that was in the episode.

I'm glad Connor is dead, I was already bored. I LOL'd at Klaus in Italy. Tyler and the hybrids is something I have zero interest in - I have less than zero interest in Aussie Wolfgirl and whatever she is doing in Mystic Falls. It irritates me no end that nearly all Caroline scenes are with Tyler, I hate "Forwood" on a Dawson & Joey level. Kill Tyler very soon please.

Stefan actually says “She’s not supposed to be this person. I don’t want her to be.” Which, okay, way to be honest, but…does he have any idea how fucked up that is? What about what Elena wants? Why does Stefan get to decide? I bet you five dollars if he had the cure in his hand and she didn’t want it, he’d find a way to slip it to her. Who do we know who’s done basically the same thing to her in the opposite direction? Hmm.

Of course Stefan doesn't want that for her, she wasn't this person (a killer who needs to eat people, but doesn't actually want to eat them and cries when she does) and he feels, rightly or wrongly, huge guilt over her turning. Why wouldn't he want to fix it? Why would he want that life for her? Why would anyone who cared about her? And, like others have said, Stefan understands more than anyone how much Elena did not want this - would never have chosen this if there was another choice. Vampirism is better than death (and I think Elena is a bit iffy even on this right now) but if there is way to allow her to be "cured" they should all be fighting for it, Damon included.

I have to wonder, though, now that he’s gotten to see Elena as a vampire and see the potential she has as one, if Damon would in fact be happy with her as a human again. It’s clear Stefan has waaaaaay too much invested in Elena the Compassionate Loving Human Girl and her Unicorn Lady Parts, but I think Damon would be pretty disappointed to have to give up the possibility of getting with her as a vampire. After all, if she does turn back into a human it’s pretty damn unlikely she’d ever change her mind, so this is a one-shot deal. I definitely think Damon’s taking the more mature position here, but as with everything between these two, it’s not a simple question.

I think Damon would want her to be human again, because that's what she'd want for herself. Even if I don't love Delena I do believe that Damon loves Elena more than anything. I think that "Im happy with her either way" was a horrible line ESPECIALLY WHEN SAID TO HER BOYFRIEND WHO IS ALSO YOUR BROTHER. But I was happy to see Damon willing to help Stefan even though Vamplena is undoubtedly more open to Damon as a romantic option than Elena was. Too often Stefan does all the giving in Defan

It was too early in the run to turn Elena. They should have waited.

It's *possible* that once Elena gets a handle on how to properly be a vampire (hopefully conquering her bloodbag issues as well), that she would look at her options:

a) vampire along the lines of Caroline or Damon, one who can control herself and does not need to feed from the human vein
b) human, but with all the fucking crap that goes along with being Klaus's doppelganger again (and beeksus, that has brought A LOT OF CRAP into her life, and gotten people around her hurt or killed, and basically keeps everyone who cares about her in a state of danger)

She might knowingly choose option a, as being the less selfish of the choices, tbh. She's only been a vampire for what? A week at the most? And yes, it's been nothing but tragedy so far, with the huntery stuff and transition stuff going on. But if things were ever allowed to settle down in MF, she might actually decide there would be less drama in her life as a vampire, without an asshole hybrid Original interested in her anymore.

I know she *wants* to be human. I'm just saying that, taken more logically, staying a vampire would possibly keep those around her safer. It 'solves the problem' of Elena.

Yes, the premise predates Heroes, but I'm wondering if people would want to watch it given the similarities.

That could depress viewing numbers, true. I feel like this team is so very different from the team that created Heroes . . . and they have the advantage of being able to learn from Heroes' narrative and characer development mistakes. Berlanti, Plec and Klemmer are more likely to keep the focus on the characters and their relationships to each other, and not on an unwieldy mythology that detracts from character progress. I hope, anyway.

Not saying that TVD doesn't have a HUGE mythology component, but the show isn't *about* that. And neither was Chuck or VMars, and neither is Arrow. So I have a lot of hope for this collaboration.

I was taking issue with how that recapper chose to read Stefan's line.

Oh, I know. I wasn't addressing your critique. I am still just stuck in an endless loop of very badly wanting the grown ass men in Elena's life to remember that she's a grown ass woman, and to start treating her as such.

Now! I have *not* always said that, I know . . . Elena, as she has been written, has fairly poor decision making skills (*sigh*), but she generally errs on the side of martyring herself for everyone else, and choosing to stay a vampire allows her to accomplish said martyrdom( if she should so want to do so). Last season, I was very much on the side of 'whoever is smartest should make Elena's decisions for her, because girlfriend does dumb things', but in this case, I don't think any of the men concerned (neither Defan nor Klefan) are being particularly thoughtful or smart. Well, Klaus doesn't count, because his goals are different . . . but for Damon and Stefan - if they truly wanted to act in Elena's best interests, they need to get her out of MF for a little while, figure out her blood bag problems, teach her how to be a vampire (they can bring Caroline along as well), let her grow accustomed to her new reality, and *then* inform her of Klaus' plans for her and discuss it all together like adults.

Never going to happen, I know. But it just creeps me out when everyone goes around talking about their plans for her future without involving her in the slightest.

I finally finished season one! Random thoughts ahead. I don't care for Jeremy. Ugh, please tell me he gets better. I like Stefan and Elena. The fog and the crow in the first couple of episodes made me LOL. Ditto on the diary voice-overs. It really picked up when the Founder's Council stuff started happening. I'm kinda on the fence about Bonnie. Hate, hate, hate Isobel. Poor Alaric. The scene between Damon and not!Elena at the end of the finale was hot though. I know there's a lot of love here for Katherine, but I'm not feeling it yet. She just seems like an asshole at this point.

I started off kind of ambivalent about Nina Dobrev. She's really grown on me though. I'm back and forth about Paul Wesley. Sometimes, I think he's very attractive. Other times, I just think he's strange looking. My husband is sure Willem Dafoe is his father. Ian Somerhalder has the best crazy eyes. It's funny as hell. I just want to live in the Salvatore mansion and read all the books. Bookshelf porn!

That sort of cheesy stuffs gets even more lessened in S2, to the point where a re-appearance of the diary voice overs becomes notable because it is so rare now.

I watched them all. It was pure, glorious cheese! Since I live in the middle of the woods, I had to buy the DVDs. The mister even settled in for the marathon around episode 5/6. I started off watching while doing random house stuff. By the finale, I was parked on the couch. Luckily, though I've read this thread, I didn't realize it was Katherine in the finale until she was twiddling with the knives and John's fingers came off. It was a fun surprise.

Also, love Caroline. I loathed Vicki and was very, very happy to see her go.
