  • I know, right? It's funny cuz it's true.

    casting spoiler:

Now that Elena will be sporting fangs, "The Vampire Diaries" has a new girl-next-door headed back to Mystic Falls. Zap2it has learned that 20-year-old actress Grace Phipps has landed the role.

Phipps, best known as Amy on the short-lived "Nine Lives of Chloe King," will play April, described as "a natural beauty with a bit of an edge."

As we were the first to report, 16-year-old April is from Mystic Falls, and, after a death in the family, she decides to move back home from private school. Executive producer Julie Plec describes her as "a natural beauty with a bit of an edge."

She's got childhood history with Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), so it's important to Elena to protect her from Mystic Falls' many secrets. We've got our suspicions that she'll be wrapped up in the monster mayhem before too long, though! Expect to see April make her first appearance in the second episode of Season 4.

    • I hear she has a natural beauty with a bit of an edge. Whatever that means.
Itís just really honestly so tiring and emotionally draining to have to get upset over reality constantly.

      • Flawless really is the word. Daniel Gillies is hilarious. I also didn't know he was married to Rachel Leigh Cook. Have I just not been paying attention?

I hear she has a natural beauty with a bit of an edge. Whatever that means.
Especially since the rest of the cast is completely hideous without makeup.

        • Yes! They are one of those amazing couples that just seem to work together. And they are sweet, too. They spent much of this summer raising money and starting a foundation to help this three year old with cancer.

Absolutely flawless. My fave DG story, though, is the one he tells about being a waiter, and serving Paul Wesley and asking PDubs for advice on the acting biz. Ha!

          • Another new role. Jeez. That's four new characters in the first three eps.

From Episode 4.03 a new character called Hayley is being cast. Described as Georgeous and wildly sexy but tough as nails.

Episode 4.03 does not yet have a title.
Tricia: Please, I beg of you, Vampire Diaries scoop that isn't about the love triangle.
How about scoop that is about one person in said love triangle? As if her transition won't be giving her enough to deal with, we've learned that Connor, the new vampire hunter (played by Todd Williams) coming to MysticFalls, will set his sights on Elena. Can't a girl transition in peace?!

            Jeez Louise, people.

Third spoiler: tomorrow @JoseMolinaTV will get to witness a reunion with an old friend. Ssshhhhh.....
Also, Claire (and therefore Rebekah) got a super cute new haircut:

Very much hope this is true. There ain't no bad wig like a TVD flashback bad wig. Besides, can you *really* have Original family flashbacks without Elijah? Hope not!

@julieplec will we see more Originals flashbacks in S4?

            • Teen Choice Awards this weekend!

Candice and Trevino are up for Scene Stealers, Ian, Paul and Nina are all up again for the big ones, and JoMo is up for Choice Villain- or whatever they call the hot bad guy award.

              • From the pink carpet (pink? really?) at the TCAs, here's a few early pics:

Ian and Nina used the same stylist (again). Eh.

Wish we had a better angle on Nina's dress. I like the color, though. But her hair and makeup don't really seem to be doing anything for her. And as for Ian . . . I don't see how a stretched out tshirt and black pants/jeans = styled. I hope he didn't pay much for that advice.

Candice is wearing yellow, but I have only seen glimpses of her (she brought her brother as her date):

Not loving anything about Kat's look, especially her extensions:

                • So they did win everything (Nina, Ian, Trevino and Accola + the show for overall), except Ian didn't win Male Hottie, I guess, and he beat PDubs for Choice Actor. And yeah, JoMo and Kat didn't get their categories either (not fair pitting Kat against Nina - didn't even make sense). But otherwise, an impressive haul. And I think this is Candice's first surfboard, so yay for her.

ETA correction! Ian did win Choice Hottie. Surprising? I guess it's because they couldn't get either Ryan Gosling or RPattz to agree to win it.

Must make the old man feel good, though.

                  • Now I think Jp and everyone involved is just trolling us. These can't all be real.

I chatted up The Vampire Diaries exec producer Julie Plec and her bloodsucking CW cast at Comic-Con. Among the bombs dropped:
                    - Early in the season, newly-turned vampire Elena (Nina Dobrev) will have what Plec calls her "first hot vampire sex" with either Damon, Stefan, Klaus, Matt or Elijah. A possible clue as to who the lucky guy is? "Elena saved Matt's life, so he's going to end up paying it forward in a very peculiar way." Dobrev's reaction to the action: "It's like she's going through puberty and vampire sex is going to feel like her first time."

                    - Stefan (Paul Wesley) will be driving a new motorcycle to show off his rebellious side. "I ride motorcycles in my daily life, so I'm excited to burn some rubber," says Wesley, who'd been campaigning for these wheels. "I ride a Triumph but I'm hoping Stefan gets something vintage."

                    - Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will find a new daytime drinking buddy in Tyler (Michael Trevino). "I think Tyler is up to the challenge of picking up at the bar where Alaric left off," says Trevino. Adds Somerhalder: "Enemies will become allies."

                    - The fourth episode flashes back 900 years to shed further light on Rebekah (Claire Holt), who's looking for a new place to live. "The Salvatore house is huge," suggests Somerhalder. "And so is Damon's bed!"

                    - Expect a "big, spontaneous, explosion of joy with some kissing" the first time Caroline (Candice Accola) lays eyes on Tyler, who she thought died. "Shirts are flying off in our first episode back," teases Trevino.

                    - Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) will possibly find love with new character April (Grace Phipps, who arrives in Episode 2), a pastor's daughter who returns from boarding school under tragic circumstances and reconnects with her childhood friend. "It will be interesting to see where they go with that," says McQueen. "But he and Bonnie still have some unfinished business."

                    Read more:
Pretty sure Vamplena would break Matt, so I don't think that is likely. But I am happy that girlfriend is finally going to get some after a long dry spell.

Also, why would Bex need a place to live? What happens to the Klaus Haus? Maybe Damon burns it down. He's supposed to be feeling revengy in the first ep.

                    • Watching parts of the TCAs that I missed last night, and boy . . . I may not have loved Neener's dress last night totally, but girl did show off the stems in them. Crazy sexy.

And Ian brought his tweenage niece as his date, which was sweet.

Speaking of stems, Kristen's leather pants were freakin' HOT last night. And it was funny when Rob and Kristen gave their surfboards to audience members because, dude- what the frak do they need a 40th one of these for? And TayTay had no clue what to do with his after that.

                      • Both Julie and Nina have mentioned zebras being on the set. Why, I have no freaking clue. Cute, though. Maybe Damon decided to say fuck you all, and head to Africa and they have to make Covington look like the serengeti.

Just posted chap 11 of my K/C fic. Took a few days off to rest my hands. I'm up to four different kinds of carpal tunnel gloves, but none of them fit right. Stupid baby sized hands. I don't know why they don't make a carpal tunnel glove for all of the five year olds who might want to write a novel someday.

                        • I would love Vamp Elena/Matt sex. Just because it's unexpected and totally weird. But, at any rate, I'm just excited that Elena gets to have some fun.
Itís just really honestly so tiring and emotionally draining to have to get upset over reality constantly.

                          • Maybe instead of killing babies VampElena heads to the zoo to munch on some exotic animals?

I would like to see Elena's vamp-sex be with a human first. That would be more interesting than what we will probably see (Elena/Stefan is my assumption).

                            • Trying to come up with a zebra explanation.

Matt quit his job at the Grill to become a zookeeper? Stefan decides he is too snooty for woodland creatures and only eats the most exotic foods now? The new vamp hunter in town rides down Main Street on a tiny zebra just for the lulz? Klaus indulges his baby sister's desire for a menagerie?

The most likely explanation I have seen is that it is some flashback involving Ayanna, and her origin story in Africa - if there is such a thing as an origin story in Africa for Ayanna. Nobody knows.

Of course, Elijah insisted that there were wild horses in Virginia hundreds of years before horses actually came to this continent, so maybe the writers are also confused about whether or not there were zebras in Virginia a thousand years ago as well.

Yes, I think Stelena vampsex is a given early on in the season. I want Stefan to be confused and somewhat turned off by a darker more monster-y Elena, though.

BTW, the title for 4.01 has been revealed to be 'Growing Pains'. Eh.

                              • here's a cute vid from an MTV interview at ComicCon with the main trio:

Ian totally thinks Stefan has compelled Elena before, PDubs swears he hasn't (PDubs is right, btw), Neeners stares at Ian's lips and chest and neck for far longer than is polite, and Ian shares that Damon is going to have a 'win moment' when it comes to the compulsion memories coming back. I don't know if that means he's just going to toss in her face, 'see? we did meet first', or what, but Ian seems to think that the line Damon says is a good one.

Watching Nian vids is restoring some of my faith in humanity today. Neeners would NEVAH cheat. She's too Candorable for that. *sniff*

Tiki's Grandad weighs in on R&K:

Ian napping vampire style during filming today, posted by Trevino:

Still no hints out of Covington to explain the frackin' zebra.
