  • You know, I only liked the chicken ramen and I never drank the broth so I always made two packages.

That big list makes me sad I can only fit possibly two more pieces with this house as is. One's a hall tree and the other is an island for the kitchen but it's so busy in the kitchen I think it would end up being in the way. Stupid house full of male animals. <-- including humans there, yo

      • OMB! Mr. D and I picked out those SAME CHAIRS about a year ago, but then never got around to buying them, which is a good thing because due to the babies and my mom staying with us we ended up needing a sleeper sofa in that space instead. But good taste, yo!

        • Pig- I all your furniture selections!! What I wouldn't give to be able to buy furniture without worrying about potential kid messes and cat scratching!!

          • Bwah! D, I how we all share a brain!

Snick, I got the stain-guard option so they'll replace if the fabric gets ruined in the first five years.

Oh, and to complete my brandwhoreness, I'm going to go test driving this weekend. Yes, me! I'm going to check this one out:

I am all over the GMC "employee discount for everyone" promotion. Who knew Saab was owned by GMC?
It's all about me and my precious.

            • Fee has a Saab, and she lurves it. Good choice!

              • And my coworker's husband has a Saab and it has a 6-pack cooler in the glove compartment. I :hear: that. My coworker has the new limited edition convertible Beetle and it's so painfully cute I can.not.stand. it. I now want a convertible.

                I wanna new car!

Living in Metro Detroit it's hard to find someone who doesn't get an employee discount on GM cars through some relative. One of the key questions everyone asks is: Who'd you get your discount from? Hee!

Sadly, my grandparents (shop rats) are dead so my connections are gone. Though my uncle still works for AC spark plug. Hmm. Mr. Is's dad and his stepmom both qualify so he can get the discount through them. Seriously, everyone in Detroit/Flint has a discount through some family member. It cracks me up!
Itís just really honestly so tiring and emotionally draining to have to get upset over reality constantly.

                • I get the discount thru my sister. But Ford no longer gives the discount for Jags...not that I'd ever be able to afford one.

                  • If I was thinking convertible, I'd go for the Saab convertible (yum!) over the Beetle. Then again, I have no idea of the price comparison!

                    • We bought this black one:

It has the AWD, Cold Weather Package, leather interior, 6-Disc CD Changer, Front Fog Lamps & Xenon Head Lamps and Moonroof!

Kermie wanted the "Aero" turbo engine one with stick, but I said to the air intake growth on the hood of that version, plus I don't drive stick. Plus there were like no Aero in this country left with leather interior and moonroof. So we got the "underpowered" one (according to him) because it was cuter, and had leather interior with moonroof. I me. It still has 165 hp which (I am told by "unbiased" sources)is not bad.

                      Road trip!

ETA: With the incentives etc. it was like more than 25% off MSRP. Score!

                      My very first car. *sniff*

                        • I my 325 HP Hemi. INFINITY. It's like in another life I was a white trash monster truck driver.

Congrats on the new car, Piggy!

                          • What with the twins and all their assorted accoutrements, the Volvo sedan isn't gonna cut it for much longer. As I intensely dislike both minivans and SUVs, I am leaning toward the Chrysler Pacifica. It's much more wagon-y than SUV-y.

                            • D, a lot of my friends who have massive hate for the SUVs like the Subaru wagons (esp the snazzy WRX-- v. fun to drive) and the Saturn Vue. That Pacifica did get kickass safety ratings though. I think it's pretty good looking.

I think if I had a gazillion dollars I could get into cars like crazay Leno or Seinfeld. Of course my huge estate Woodside would have to lend part of its stables for the cars. Hee!

                              • Well the other thing I forgot to mention is that I want a 3rd row seat that I could use in a pinch if we want to tote another adult around. With two car seats, there's just room for me, Mr. D, and the kids. So like when my mom was visiting there was no way we could have all gone out to dinner or the mall or the park or whatever in one car. Kind of a pain. It's relatively rare that we'd need to take another person somewhere, but if there's one thing I learned from 5 years of having a 2-seater, it's that it's good to have the option of the extra seat.

We really like the Honda Element, but it's strictly a 4-seater. No way to even squeeze someone between the car seats. So that rules out most wagons and small SUVs anyway. There are a few other of the wagon/SUV crossover deals like the Pacifica (everyone seems to have started making one in the past couple of years), but so far that is the one I'm digging the most.
