  • Christina Grimmie was shot dead last night after performing in Orlando. She was shot while signing autographs outside.

Christina Grimmie, a singer known for competing on The Voice, was shot and killed Friday night after a concert in Orlando.

Grimmie, who had wrapped up the show with Before You Exit at the Plaza Live Theater, was signing autographs when a man walked up to her and shot her, Orlando Sgt. Wanda Miglio said at a news conference.
Grimmie's brother tackled him. The suspect then shot himself.

Josh Call, who was working at a hot dog stand outside the venue, told the Orlando Sentinel that he heard four or five gunshots.

"It was quick like pow, pow, pow, pow," he said. Call said he then went inside the venue and saw a female victim with a gunshot wound to her head.

She was only 22. And this girl could *sing*, she was the real deal. I know most of y'all probs don't watch The Voice, but she was one of my faves from S6. She had amazing range.

Anyway, I saw one news outlet speculating that it might have been a guy who had been stalking her on social media, which reminded me immediately of the super scary Bulgarian trucker who was hardcore stalking Nina Dobrev last year and holy crap it would be such a nightmare to be famous (as a woman) at all, at any level.

    • It doesn't matter if you watched the Voice or not. It's just so awful.

            2016! WHY WON'T YOU END.

ETA for a list of people famous (to Americans) who died in 2016: http://www.legacy.com/news/galleries...lebrity-deaths

There's 85 people in that gallery, and they haven't even added Alan Thicke yet. 2016 is going to go down in history as one of the greatest mass murderers of celebs ever.

                              • The fact that he was only 53 is freaking me out. So when he was my first celebrity crush in 4th grade, he was still just a baby himself.

I remember reading a story in some mag about how he got jealous because an ex girlfriend was dining with another man at a restaurant and he walked in and carried her out of there all romantical and I think my nine year old heart swooned.

As a side note, how much easier it was to successfully beard back in those days . . . show up with a female friend at one or two red carpets, and have your PR rep plant a couple of ridiculous stories and you could otherwise live your happy gay life with hardly anyone the wiser. Nowadays, no one would buy that. If you want the public to believe you heterosexually carried someone out of restaurant, it had better be corroborated with a dozen cellphone pics and vids on twitter. No wonder it's just easier to be out nowadays, for many reasons.
