Yep, yep, yep. And this Van Drew weirdo suddenly pledging “undying support” for Trump despite voting against Republicans on everything is bizarre, but...with the Senate packed with cowardly Republican geezers, impeachment does feel like a giant waste of time and money. The whole point is to show that no one is above the law, but “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?” is frighteningly accurate.

Yeah, it's been a weird month! Warren never gaining traction, Bernie flaming out and everybody discovering that the rustbelt hates women more than they hate socialism (not news to me, glad I moved away from the Murder Mitten).

It did give me a glimmer of hope that we can at least get Trump out this fall. Maybe? Eh? ehhhh.

Also, my feelings about the pandemic have been alllll over the map. It's been A JOURNEY the last few weeks.
Itís just really honestly so tiring and emotionally draining to have to get upset over reality constantly.

I’m too distracted by my rage at Trump’s signature loud, uninformed, dangerous bullshit about Coronavirus to feel my full sadness about Warren right now.

Yeah, that speech the other night about turned my hair white. I immediately slammed like 3 glasses of wine and when I woke up yesterday, I discovered he freaked the entire country out!

            We doomed.

I am so afraid-angry-horrified that Joe Biden really did violate this crazy Tara Reade and it’s going to fuck over all of us. White men and their penises need to get out of power.

Also Stacey Abrams is awesome, but not even close to qualified to be VP.

Yeah, I feel like I've read more legit reporting about Tara Reade's allegations from 1993 than I have ALL of the two dozen assault allegations against Trump combined. Trump raped a minor at Jeffrey Epstein's house... and nobody gives a fuck! It's amazing.

Anyway, I believe that Tara Reade faced some pretty gross and terrible behavior from men (and women who did nothing to help) in 1993. As a woman who was an employed adult in 1993, I can tell you right now Millennial women wouldn't last five minutes back then. Their heads would explode to see what was tolerated as perfectly normal. Men were fucking disgusting letches because there was nobody to hold them accountable. "Not all men" but THE VAST FUCKING MAJORITY.

I saw the Anita Hill hearings. Joe Biden was a sexist shitbag in 1993 JUST LIKE THE REST OF THEM. Some older ones have evolved, but let's be real: most haven't. We have to stop pretending that "not all men" is a real thing. The culture has changed *dramatically* in a generation because women ascended to some positions of power. It made men treat women like people and not just objects. We will have this generational divide until we're all dead. And women younger than us will never understand but will probably blame us for how we were treated because they'll be ignorant, clueless people. And I am glad they will be clueless (many still are! Look at the all the young women who think Hillary Clinton is evil!).

That said, one thing about Tara Reade's allegations strikes me as not true. She claims she was working (ON THE HILL IN 1993) and bare-legged in a skirt. This doesn't ring true to me. If she said he ripped her hose? YES, believable. Or that she was wearing thigh-high stockings (they made a comeback briefly in the early 1990s)? Yes. But not wearing nylons in 1993 would have been pretty edgy. Especially somewhere as conservative as DC. It wouldn't surprise me if you got sent home for coming in bare-legged. And the senate had very strict dress codes. It was the "year of the woman" and the "pantsuit rebellion" when ACTUAL SENATORS had to disobey the dress code and caused national news!

I dunno, maybe I'm just justifying for a Democrat but it just sounds off to me.

That said, if we're going to continue to electing old men? We're not going to find a person who hasn't sexually harassed anyone (and don't even start with Bernie Sanders who was "too busy" to address sexism in his own campaign in 2016 and who wrote a fucking incel essay back in the 1970s).

That's a good point about the pantyhose.

That's really wise what you say about the generational divide - I have seen this when explaining my experiences to younger women. They just cannot grasp how common and accepted this behavior was, and how we fought like hell to make it not be anymore.

For those who want to donate or have already donated to BLM or a similar organization, a handful of UPenn student organizations are matching donations. You just have to go through the links and attach a copy of your donation receipt and you can also list your employer in case they want to match your contribution. We donated through Act Blue which splits up your amount among several groups like BLM and NAACP. You can also allocate your donations to the groups however you want.

                      Thanks, Issie.

Here’s how bad things are: George W Bush issued a statement today and it made me cry because even though he was a horrible president and I disagree with basically everything he did, he still acted like a human being in the statement and we need that so badly.

Okay, so I can't go protest downtown because of my asthma (Covid and tear gas reasons), so I've donated to these orgs and want to give them a shout out here:

Do y'all have any organizations that you recommend as well? I thought this would be a good place to do a round-up.

Also a special mention to the Navajo Nation Covid Relief fund, because they are being hit really hard yet are being totally neglected (big surprise).

I gave to Reclaim the Block - a Minneapolis organization working for more community, less cops. Also ACLU because they’ve been defending protest rights. And a local BLM chapter has formed (there was another one, but it was problematic so some younger black women have stepped up), and I am trying to find their website to donate.

I went to a protest today. It was in Point State Park - which is that big park with the fountain where the rivers meet; it’s always shown when they film anything in Pittsburgh. This seemed the best for me so I could avoid the younglings and their germs. And that was the case; I was able to hang back and stay away from the masses. Almost everyone was wearing a mask and it was all outdoors, but I also only stayed for an hour and a half. I wanted to feel like I had supported the cause, but I didn’t want to get sick, so that seemed okay.

I am thinking about how best to support the election. In 2016 I canvassed here in the city, but I am not comfortable with that this year. I may do some online voter registration stuff or send postcards. Anybody else struggling with what to do here?

I followed some links on Twitter which said that they accepted international donations and donated to some of those. NAACP was one of them so I'll check the rest, thanks ophy.

Busy offered to match donations to Breonna Taylor or the Louisville Bail Fund up to 5k and then said yesterday that she had only gotten up to like 1500 bucks so we donated to the bail fund. The Breonna Taylor GFM has met it's goal and then exceeded it by 10x so we figured we'd give to the other cause for now. The Act Blue link I posted above has several other organizations that you can donate to separately. It includes Color of Change.

And then there's this way: YouTube

That vid is about an hour long with a bunch of ads and all of the profits from it go directly to BLM. I've just played it a bunch on a spare iPad and go about my day. They've probs made tens of thousands of dollars by now and it's a great, super easy way to "donate" if you're strapped for cash. I've sent the link to all my nephews with orders to keep it running in the background as often as possible.

Also, this is unrelated to the fundraising, but have y'all seen people thirsting for the Four Daddies of the Apocalypse? OMG, it's made me laugh all weekend.

If not, uh, you are welcome! It's basically 2 (maybe 4?) super tall, alpha dudes suited up in full riot gear who think they're in a video game. They throw tear gas back at the cops, they get in their faces, and have become like the poster men of the protests. Somewhere along the way, people gave them nicknames or maybe these names are self-assigned. Who knows? And some of the guys have more than one nickname. So far there's def 2. There's a guy named Tank (I think he's the one w/o dreads) and there's SpecOps or Riot who has dreads. There might also be a 3rd guy named Alpha and a 4th guy named Anon although there isn't definite proof that more than 2 different people exist right now since the videos could just be any of these 2 guys acting out their Call of Duty fantasies. There is also maybe a girl named Athena?

Every post on Twitter, TikTok, and Insta about them is women (gay and straight) and men (gay AND straight) asking to be choked by these dudes and it's hilarious. If you just do a search for "tank daddy" on Twitter, the posts are endless gold.

I love that people are committed to allowing them to maintain their anonymity for safety's sake while also trying to low key figure out who they are so they can DM them for choke sessions. Twitter makes me sad/mad like 90% of the time, but it is also THE BEST at giving me content like this.

I had not heard about the Four Daddies, ha. I do not want any of them to choke me, but I'd be down for a cuddle party.

I did not fully anticipate that there would be quite so much trolling during the Apocalypse, but I ain't mad about it.
